The Disappearing Kiss

Your eyes still sparkle

That haven still exists in your arms

Everything is familiar

But Lover,

It’s been too long. It is too late

I no longer melt at your glance

My heart races not

At the brandy tones in your voice

The ache in my soul has dulled to a sweet mellowness

No, I don’t yearn for your skin anymore

When you are near

There is no urge to reciprocate the kiss

I see in your eyes

Lover,

I will kiss you if you want

But your kiss will evaporate on my lips

It will touch not my heart or roar in my heartbeats

It will enter not my blood or sing in my veins

like it once so fiercely did

So do you still want

My disappearing kiss?

.
